W. Columbia 7 Gets an Upgrade
Battle Creek, MI – May 10, 2017 – Starting this week, Goodrich Quality Theaters based in Grand Rapids, MI, began installation of plush, powered recliner seating in all seven auditoriums at the Mid-west chain’s Battle Creek, Michigan location, W. Columbia 7. The theater’s new recliners are in addition to upgraded 7.1 sound systems, new auditorium wall treatments, expanded lobby and concession stand along with a fresh new exterior facade.
With powered recliner seating, W. Columbia 7 will have all reserved seating. Moviegoers will be able to reserve their seats online at GoodrichQualityTheaters.com or through the Goodrich mobile app. Guests will also be able to choose their specific seat assignment on the new touch monitors at the theater.
The nearly 1.5 million-dollar project was designed by Paradigm Design, Grand Rapids, MI and construction by CD Barnes of Grand Rapids, MI. “We are happy to partner once again with Goodrich Quality Theaters on another great project,” says John Drozer, President, CD Barnes.
The lobby improvements include a self-serve ticket kiosk and a drink refill station. Counter tops, floor tiling, carpet and restroom changes will all be contemporized. The new, larger concession stand will feature hot food such as mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, pretzels, pizza and hot dogs. Guests 21 and over will be able to enjoy alcohol during the movie by ordering beer and/or wine at Screen Taps bar which will be part of the new concession stand. The exterior face of the W. Columbia 7 will be changed.
“We’ve been showing movies in Battle Creek at this location since 1972,” says Bob Goodrich, owner, Goodrich Quality Theaters. “W. Columbia 7 is our longest running theater in our company. We’ve done six screen upgrades throughout the years from its time of the two screens, stadium seating, new seats, upgraded sound, digital presentations,” adds Goodrich. “We’re thrilled to go into this next stage of the moviegoer experience with recliner seating and an expanded selection of food and drinks,” says Goodrich.
The W. Columbia 7 recliner installation will be Goodrich Quality Theaters’ fifth complex featuring Telescopic Seating Systems (TSS) recliner seating in all auditoriums. Goodrich purchased powered recliners from the Holland, MI based seating company, TSS. The theater will be open during most of the construction with the exception of closing for one week in June to replace the restrooms. The first two recliner auditoriums will be completed by early June. The entire project will be finished by the end of July 2017.
